According to egmcartech.com, Toyota and Hummer topped J.D. Power and Associates’ "bar exam" on loyalty and conquest, along with Lexus, Hyundai and Honda. That only means one thing: the five brands have captured the hearts and interests of their customers. The rates consist of computing the number of customers that either use or ditch the brand. Scores increase through customers who buy and trade-in their vehicles as new. If data show that a brand’s measurement drops from the average 100 index score, it signifies that the brand has to do something in order to maintain its customers.

Toyota, the world’s second largest automaker, got a new-customer rate of 267 percent, which goes to show that its customers were tripled compared to recorded figures in the previous years. Meanwhile, it received a 65 percent of loyalty score, representing 41 percent of total sales. On the other hand, the Hummer obtained a striking new-customer ratio of 427 percent along with 44 percent loyalty which stands for 16 percent of sales.

Unfortunately, Ford's customer-ratio slipped to only 44 percent which denotes a doubled number of Ford customers leaving the brand.

J. D Power and Associates Executive Director Steve Witten said in autonews.com that loyalty and conquest are equally important benchmarks in order to prove a car brand’s real strength.
